University of Oregon head football coach Chip Kelly announced the Ducks' 2012 recruiting class Wednesday, welcoming 21 student-athletes to Eugene. Oregon signed 10 players on defense, eight on offense, two athletes and one special teams player to National Letter of Intents, including nine high school All-Americans - the most in a single recruiting class in program history. The Ducks inked 18 prep players and three junior college transfers. Oregon stocked up on defensive linemen, signing five, while adding four players to the defensive backfield. The only other positions with multiple signees were quarterback, tight end and wide receiver with two apiece. The 2012 class represents eight different states with multiple student-athletes coming from California, Ohio, Oregon and Texas.

Oregon State football head coach Mike Riley spoke to the media Wednesday afternoon and announced the Beavers' 2012 signing class. Twenty-three student-athletes had signed national letters of intent to join the program. "In general, offensive linemen redshirt most of the time, but I think that we will have some guys that can maybe compete to play and could even start. We wanted to get some athletes like defensive backs and corners. We got a good group of those guys coming in for sure. With that we wanted to get some experienced linebackers, which I didn't think we would be able to get two, but there at the end we almost got three. So we ended up with two junior college linebackers that are guys who have played and they fit in our style and they are good football players. So besides that, we kind of did a smattering of a bunch of stuff. We got a good receiver. We were only in the market for maybe one or two receivers, and we just got one before this press. We went after a limited number of running backs, because we have a lot of good players in our system. But we got three good guys. We got one quarterback in the class and he was our first choice as we went into it early on in the year. We needed some tight ends and we got two outstanding players from the state of Washington. Also, when I went on a trip I saw a kicker and I thought he was really good. So we signed him that I think will be a great addition of the program. He was the leading receiver at his high school and played basketball, so he is a tremendous athlete. So we have a lot of gray shirts in this group, but in general, we got the numbers we needed to. At one point we had four corners committed, and I think we came away with one true corner, which doesn't mean we won't try some other guys at that position. We feel great about the group of defensive backs that we have. We always pay attention to recruits in state. I think in our opinion we got the two best players in our state. I am proud of the production that our state has put out there."
