Southwestern Oregon fell 87-56 to visiting Chemeketa Saturday in an NWAACC women's basketball game in Coos Bay.  Quynee EHaris led the Lakers (2-4, 8-10) with 17 points, while Kelsey George scored 14 and Sarah Dexter 11.  SWOCC's men won the nightcap 98-68 over the Storm.  Joseph Moquina led Southwestern (4-2, 12-7) with 24 points, followed by Marcus Monroe with 21 and 10 each for Montee Driver and Cody Cozad.  SWOCC will have a make-up game at home with Lane on Wednesday, Feb. 1.  Women 3:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.  On Saturday, the Lakers travel to Clackamas in Oregon City.

Paint this year's first round of Civil War basketball orange.  Oregon State swept Oregon at both ends over the weekend with the women winning Saturday at home in Gill Coliseum and the men prevailing Sunday in Eugene at Matthew Knight Arena.  Oregon State (13-7, 4-5) bombed Oregon (11-10, 3-6) from outside the three-point late in the Civil War contest en route to a 67-60 women's Pac-12 win, while the Beaver men (14-7, 4-5) prevailed 76-71 over the Ducks (15-6, 6-3) the next day.  The women's teams host Utah and Colorado Thursday and Saturday, while the men's teams are at Utah and Colorado.

Former North Bend athlete Sammie Clark was sixth in the women's pole vault at an indoor track meet this past weekend at College Station, Texas.  The freshman cleared 12-2 1/2 for the Ducks.  Oregon won both mile races, as well as the men's 4x400 meter relay and the women's 60 meters to cap the second day of the Texas A&M Mondo Challenge.  In the conference portion of the competition, the Big 12 won the men's title with 277.25 points, with the Pac-12 second at 227.25 and the SEC third at 164.5. The SEC won the women's race with 216 points, followed by the Big 12 with 214 and the Pac-12 with 178."This might have been the best total team effort at an indoor meet that I've seen from an Oregon group," said Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna. "Almost everyone who travelled hit a PR or did what they set out to accomplish this weekend.
